The whole work develops around the idea of a window looking directly out into the universe. The window is vaguely reminiscent of an eye, the pupil of which is the central architectural element, a rose window in a style between Gothic and Romanesque. The geometry of the rose window is based on the Rosa Camuna, one of the most famous rock carvings in the Camonica Valley. This symbol belongs to the Camuni civilisation, but there are numerous traces of it all over the world; its original meaning has been lost to our contemporaries, but it is thought to have been a symbol of the sun or a good-luck charm.
The room is thus transformed into the cabin of a spaceship travelling somewhere in the boundless universe, but the student reminds us to look at the past, at what we were.
The window is held in place by the weave of a vine that draws its origin and strength directly from the wooden structure of the ceiling. On an isolated branch, a Greater Gadwall watches us, a solitary species, difficult to observe, with a migratory and camouflaged character; in fact, it likes to hide in the thicket of branches and dense shrubbery so as not to be noticed, especially when hunting.
